SECOND SOLO ALBUM FROM THE FOUNDER OF THE BAND ATMOSFER; GUITARIST, COMPOSER AND TUTOR MUSTAFA DONMEZ: SHORT STORIES (KISA OYKULER)
Short Stories (Kisa Oykuler), the album of which all the compositions, arrangements and production are done by Mustafa Donmez, is released on Atmosfer Records.
Mustafa Donmez is a name long-familiar to especially Nordic jazz and jazz-rock listeners and is a sought-after guitarist, composer and an established guitar teacher.
In 1986, he formed Turkey’s first jazz-rock fusion band: Atmosfer. The band performed at numerous concerts and festivals. Mustafa Donmez thereafter gave many concerts in cities of Europe, such as Vienna and Paris. He staged improvisational performances with a variety of musicians. In Paris, he carried out a study in connections between Abstract Art and Abstract Music. He explored the use of Turkish makams in modern jazz music.
With the new line-up he formed, Story of The Trees (Agaclarin Oykusu) was released on A.K. Music in December 2007. Again, all compositions and arrangements in this album are written by Mustafa Donmez. Next, his first solo album Mysterious Journey (Gizemli Yolculuk) was released in December 2009 on A.K. Music.
ABOUT THE ALBUM
Second solo album, Short Stories (Kisa Oykuler) by Mustafa Donmez is released in February 2013 on the record label Atmosfer Records that he launched towards the end of 2012. The album opens with the composition called “Short Stories” (“Kisa Oykuler”) in which five short stories written by Mustafa Donmez are narrated musically. The album consists of nine songs depicting various emotional states and segments of the life we live without knowing the future. Mustafa Donmez plays all the guitars and instruments in this album. The only guest musician on the album is Umit Onartan, who accompanies the eighth song with his saxophone solo.
